Just Returned from Nicaragua

We just returned from Nicaragua with most of the blankets our 7 knitters made since our last visit. The organic coral blanket below is one of them. That and others that we haven't offered before or that have been out of stock for a while will appear on our New Arrivals page and in subsequent email updates. Most are still awaiting photos.

100% Organic Blankets

We're replenishing our stock of organic blankets. The coral one here is one of the chunky-weight blankets. In this same yarn, we now have all of the previous colors but in limited quanties: cadet blue, platano green, gray, aqua, and sky blue. AND we once again have our lighter-weight organic blanket with undyed yarn (only the sheep have dye, since for those we used the 100% organic cotton gray yarn from the chunkier blankets).

Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation

For a 3rd year, PNC Financial in nearby Jacksonville, Florida reached out to Sheep Dreamzzz for blankets to give as gifts to local military moms as part of the Constellation Furyk and Friends golf tournament and concert, which is also connected with a baby shower for military moms.

This request came a little later than in the past, yet it worked out great because instead of ordering yarn and having one color each for girls, boys, and neutral, we selected from our already-made blankets so people will see a lot more color variety than in the past. It also helped us to move out the last blankets that we had in certain colors. We really hope to participate again in 2024!

Farewell to Cruz

Cruz Celina, who has been knitting with us for quite a well, took other work, so the list below is reduced to seven. We encourage and celebrate when the women find something more profitable for themselves and their families.

Here's the important thing - Cruz continues to receive the same "monthly bonus" (bono in Spanish) as the others. This is part of the pay (roughly 40%) that gets paid after we sell. We began this so we could offer a wholesale price when needed. The September bonus will include a nice kicker from the PNC purchase!

The other knitter who has moved on and receives the bonus since we are still selling her blankets is Martha Saenz, wife of our good friend Bismarck who worked with us on the farm in Malpaisillo from day one but died two years ago. She's moved back to the Managua area and we were able to help with her final move this past week.

If you use Facebook or Instagram, we'll be posting new blankets and sets there as well. You will find the links at the bottom of every page at sheepdreamzzz.org.
